Bikers or motorcyclists are more susceptible and exposed to face severe injury or casualty than the four-wheel drivers. This not only costs lives but also an incredible loss of money in terms of property mutilation, remedial expenses, the direct damage of market productivity and loss of household productivity. Motorcycle fatality has been an apprehension for the United States in terms of death tolls and property losses but what is happening in the American Continent is not completely known.
Currently, it has been observed by the analysis of reports of NHTSA’s that rate of fatality of bike crashes have been declining since 1980s. The aim of this report is to analyze fatality of bikers in a certain region and its probable causes to mitigate and answer the actual contributing factors.
According to Pan American Health Organization, the most affected age group from death toll are of children from 14 to 17 years. The reason behind is the reckless riding of the two-wheeled vehicle, stunt practice, one wheeling etc. Sports bikes that are made for performing dangerous stunts and for racing used altered for personal use as a passion and fashion for the age group of 17 to 30. Having such motorcycles, the young blood considered it as an “aeroplane” that’s why it has been found in a report of Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) that death rate of riders of supersport bikes is quadrupled than the riders of other types of bikes.
Another troubling trend that appears to be on the rise is accidents involving the popular rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft. Most recently, a car using Uber’s autonomous driving technology fatally wounded someone even though a person was in the car monitoring. Additionally, there are have been many more regular Uber and Lyft crashes because of simple human error or reckless behavior. Some victims with bad injuries have pursued an Uber accident lawsuit in order to recoup medical and property damage bills. With disturbing news like an eighty-nine-year old veteran was killed during a normal walk because of an Uber driver, it’s important to to be as safe as possible whether it’s with automobiles or motorcycles.
Reckless riding or stunt performance is something like a “Suicide” with the bike but the sad thing is that many motorcyclists suffer from accidents by taking preventive measures. Here preventive measures are careless decisions by other drivers, overtaking a motorbike that results in loss of balance from the bike rider and sometimes from the bike riders by riding the bike slowly in order to keep safe from the accident due to high speed resulting in the back hit by other drivers. Accidents that caused by the fiasco of other drivers should be exposed and legally assault for the damage he made to the other’s life and property. Even if someone faced the accident by the irresponsible behaviour of the agency for the road maintenance it is necessary to determine the person who is responsible for it.
This is all we discuss the irresponsible behaviour of others, what actually the mistakes made by the bike riders themselves are yet to be discussed. For instance, according to the IIHS reports, 55 percent of motorcycle accidents in Atlanta occur on non-freeway major roads, 31 percent on minor roads and 13 percent on interstates/freeways. This happens due to speeding, drunk driving, distracted driving etc.
Since the last two decades, it has been found that the fatal crashes of bikes have reduced from 55% to 46% from the sources of NHTSA’s National Center for Statistics and Analysis. From these reports it is quite interesting to conclude that among these crashes 97% casualties were male, 37% of severing accidents save life by the wearing of helmets and proper safety equipment and the new traffic control system implemented in the United States is helpful in preventing the high-speed two-wheel vehicles, illegal racings etc. and even if someone try to humiliate the new rules may face heavy fines and sentenced to jail for a minimum of a year.
